On Thursday, the Bills confirmed speculations by signing Shaud to their 53-man roster. An undrafted rookie out of Alabama in 2004, he played in 25 games from 2004-06 with 89 carries for 330 yards and two touchdowns.

Another roster move for the Bills was the placing of backup running back Anthony Thomas to the teams injured reserve list. Thomas tore a calf muscle two weeks ago in a 36-14 loss at Jacksonville.

Shaud racks up 14 yards in limited pre-season action

Buffalo's first team defense gave up some long drives to the league's number one offense from last season, but were stingy when it came to surrendering points Friday night as big plays helped the Bills earn a 13-10 victory.

"We didn't execute at a top level and you generally don't in your first exhibition," said head coach Dick Jauron. "Would you like to see it? Yeah you'd like to see it. We're not happy with some of the things that occurred. We need to correct them and get better, but it's always nice to win. We're happy we got a win against a good football team."

After two good early stops by Buffalo's run front forced an early 3rd-and-7 on the Saint's first drive the Bills gave up some yardage in big chunks. Reggie Bush ran through a big hole inside for 13 yards and a first down. Drew Brees then completed his next four passes for a total of 41 yards to move the Saints into field goal range. READ MORE

Shaud WilliamsDay one of OTAs for the Bills began Monday as the players began working on their offensive, defensive and special teams schemes. It begins a three week stretch in which the players will be in for padless practices and weight room workouts.

Lining them up
The players jumped right into their work as two of Buffalo's new free agent offensive linemen stepped into starting roles. As expected Derrick Dockery lined up at left guard with the starting unit, while Langston Walker assumed the right tackle position.

"It was great to be around the whole team on the field," said Dockery. "We've got to start building that chemistry somewhere so to get back on the field here the first day was excellent."

Dockery looked fit and trim as he and left tackle Jason Peters worked together on the left side of the line. READ MORE
